Mooball Station

Prior to the construction of the railway, Mooball was a quiet country town, however it wasn’t until the 1930s that the town really flourished with the construction of a hotel, and reclaimed swamp land leading to an increase in dairy farming and sugar cane.
Mooball passenger station plans.
The introduction of the railway line through Mooball saw the establishment of a station, which included a passenger station building and sidings for passengers and goods. The station building was constructed of a standard plan, and was timber construction with general waiting room, ladies waiting room, and ticket office.
It has almost fallen out of local memory that the small town of Mooball had its own gazetted beach in the early 1900s. It was a hugely popular daytrip to take the train from Murwillumbah to Mooball station, then a coach to the beach.
