The Museum will expand even further into the surrounding streets for another epic afternoon of exhibitions, activities and entertainment for all ages.

This year's event is inspired by all things Tweed; our people, places, biodiversity and history as we celebrate the Museum’s 20th birthday.

Far-out flashmobs and sparkling dance workshop with the Cassettes

Dancing is the answer to almost everything. Follow The Cassettes’ Flash Mob Dance Company as they bust a move bringing laughter and delight with their hilarious roving, far-out flashmobs, sparkly performances and of course 80s dance crowd workshop.

Face-to-Face Collaborative Artwork

Get creative with a collaborative portraiture and public art activity. Work alongside local creatives Tamsin Ainslie and Leith Walton and community members to create a public artwork that celebrates the diversity of the Tweed.

Story Salon at the Museum on Wheels

Join us at the Story Salon presented by the Murwillumbah Historical Society and the Museum, where we offer a modern twist on 18th and 19th-century French salons! Explore objects on display in the Museum on Wheels, read from local journals, borrow a person to ask questions about the Tweed, and contribute a sentence or two to our collaborative long-form story using our old typewriters. Delve into deep conversations, meet the Historical Society, connect with the community, and explore our rich history.

Ti leaves and talks with Louise and Kyra Togo

Join Louise and Kyra Togo for a unique experience where weaving and conversation intertwine. Weave beautiful Ti Leaf Leis and colourful bangles while exploring the rich history, heritage, and cultural impact of the Australian South Sea Islander community on the Tweed. Discover how weaving reflects and reveals deeper truths about our shared heritage.

Embody a unique species from the Tweed

Be transformed by our talented face painters into one of the unique species found in the Tweed. Embody the mannerisms of the species and roam throughout the street party.

Six Seasons Cultural Calendar and Connection to Country

Experience insightful yarns with Uncle Franc, a Bundjalung elder from the Minyangbal language group. Explore how the adaptive Cultural Calendar, developed by the Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council, reflects seasonal changes influenced by rainfall, temperature, and the behaviour of plants and animals.

Tweed Tales Trivia: Tall or True?

Think you know the Tweed? Can you spot a tall tale from a true one? Ever heard of the Banana Wars, mysterious time capsules, or the phantom postman? Chat with locals and uncover the secrets. Fantastic prizes from Tweed businesses await! 18+

Adventure Game with our Museum Mates
 
Kids, collect your Game Card and be guided by our Museum Mates on an adventure throughout the Museum and the street party. Become an explorer and discover hidden stories and fun facts in the Museum exhibitions and activities at the Street Party! You will find answers to questions, contribute to chalk murals, graffiti

bananas, and more.

Bubbles and Kids Disco with Shorty Brown

Get ready for a blast of giggles, bubbles, and dance moves! Join kids' entertainer Shorty Brown for BubbleBonanza filled with bubbles of all sizes and DJ sets that promises smiles, silly jives, and heaps of laughter. Fun and joy are guaranteed!

Makers Lane

Wander down Makers Lane, where you'll find an array of exquisite jewellery and designer wares created by amazing designers, carefully selected by our very own local designer Kirsten Devitt, Each to Own. BeKA Ceramics, Jill McCray, Kate Bouchier, Lauren Grey, Emily Lambard, Elke, Jo Olive, Scrub Turkeys, Alex Nightingale, Bonnie Hislop, Maia Green, Knit Happens, and Seams Australia.

The Museum Shop will be open too where you can discover something unique from intriguing science books and sparkling geodes to rich indigenous literature and fascinating museum artifacts.

The Stage

Dance and enjoy a stellar lineup of live music featuring our own Slabb family band, Blackline, along with Bella Amor and Lazy Ghost. More artists will be announced soon.

Swamp Beer Garden

Lovely legends Spangled Drongo and the Gin Experience are presenting the aptly titled Swap Beer Garden near the main stage, supporting and promoting the responsible drinking of alcohol for the enjoyment of everyone. Remember every Drongo drink purchased helps save endangered Australian animals. 

Food Court

Grab a seat and savour delicious bites and refreshing drinks throughout the event! Indulge in flavors from Oki Foods' Japanese delights, Yulli's Modern Asian and Mediterranean cuisine, Flyin' Fox Icy Poles, and more.
