In this unique traditional Japanese artform botanical dyes from arrangements of flowers, leaves & grasses are transferred onto fabric by gentle hammering using pebbles. Experiment to create designs for your own fabric tote bag (supplied).

Join our friends at the Department of Primary Industries for a Try Fishing session at the amazing Boyd's Fishing Shed in Tweed Heads.
In this free family event, you will learn the basics of fishing, talk fishing with the DPI Officer and try your hand at casting a line. All the equipment, bait and fishing advice for the day is provided. You'll also get a chance to look inside the historic Boyd's Fishing Shed. You might want to bring a picnic or grab some fish and chips after the session.

Learn the traditional Japanese method of printing using a real fish!
This form of nature printing was used by fishers to record their catches but has also become an artform of its own. This is an opportunity to create a unique Gyotaku print inside the amazing Boyd's Fishing Shed at Tweed Heads.

A cryptid is an unknown, legendary, or extinct animal like those in popular folklore, such as Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster.
Explore the animals in the Capturing Nature exhibition and then create your very own cryptid using your imagination, collage techniques and drawing. What will you call your cryptid? Where did you last see it?
Drop in. Self guided fun. Children under 12 years must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
Alert all little explorers, paleontologists, and archivists! Real fossils have been found in the Museum.
What is it? Fossil, plant, shell, fish, gem or mammal? We need your help to dig, discover and identify it! Explore all the the natural history specimens and photographs in the Capturing Nature exhibition, learn about diprotodon's and uncover your very own fossil.
