Forget Jurassic Park, come to a Megafauna party! On Saturday 28 January the Tweed Regional Museum in Murwillumbah will expand into surrounding streets for an epic evening street party inspired by the Capturing Nature exhibition.
There will be roaming giant Diprotodon puppets, activities for all ages, live music, prizes, and food and drink stalls.
Bring the family and join our giant Diprotodon puppets as they roam the Museum surroundings, lost in a jungle made of concrete. You’ll be able to watch them find food and interact with them along the way!
Let your imagination soar as you experience the one-of-a-kind open-air puppetry performance from Australian visual theatre masterminds Dead Puppet Society.
Pique your curiosity as you visit the Museum’s latest offering Capturing Nature and learn all about preservation and conservation with our dynamic range of workshops held by eco-warriors, artists, curators and animal experts.
Visit our newest addition the Museum on Wheels, or the MoW as we like to call it. MoW is a renovated 1972 classic caravan that will be bringing the Museum to spots all over the region, activating spaces with exhibitions and workshops.
Become a Green Hero citizen scientist and capture important data by surveying the Great Barrier Reef, create your very own wildlife rescue kit 'Glovebox Buddy' and make a nature Mandala while learning about Glossy Black-Cockatoos.
Also chat with our dedicated local Australian seabird and turtle rescuers of seabirds, shorebirds, sea turtles and sea snakes and explore their amazing interactive marine and biodegradable object display.
Embody a threatened species and roar with the Diprotodon, tackle a large-scale Adventure Game with our Museum Mates, dig for fossils like a real-life palaeontologist and add animals to our mural chalk drawings on the street.

The Gin Experience will be back serving a variety of beverages along with Smoothjuice providing fresh juices, milkshakes, cold brew coffee and more. There will also be a range of delicious food to enjoy from OKI FOOD, Caravana Taqueria, Benilato and Khanthaly Kitchen.

Capturing Nature: Early photographs at the Australian Museum 1857-1893 travels back to a time when photography was revolutionising science, art and society. They tell the story of pioneering natural history and science research as well as the advent of photography in Australia.
The exhibition also features natural history specimens from Tweed Regional Museum’s collection.
