The Tweed Regional Museum Professional Incubator Program is a dynamic mentoring initiative designed to support students and emerging professionals across various stages of their development, from high school to early-career individuals interested in pursuing careers in the museum and heritage sectors. This program offers participants the opportunity to explore different facets of museum operations and develop practical skills through hands-on experience and mentorship by seasoned professionals.

Participants in the program will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning, guided by experienced museum staff and curators. The program offers practical experience in key areas such as curatorial practices, collections management, exhibition design, public engagement, and museum administration. Participants will also gain insight into the day-to-day operations of a regional museum, learning how to manage cultural assets and contribute to community heritage.

High school students

The program introduces students to the world of museums, offering an inside look at operations and the opportunity to explore different career pathways. Through guided tours, workshops, and basic project work, students will gain a foundational understanding of exhibition design, research, and event planning.

University students and early-career professionals

This level provides more in-depth, specialised experiences in areas such as curatorial work, collections management, research, exhibition design, and public programs. Participants will work closely with museum staff to gain practical skills, while also contributing to ongoing projects at the museum.

Emerging professionals

Tailored for individuals looking to advance their careers in the museum sector, this level provides advanced mentorship and leadership opportunities. Participants will engage in high-level projects, including the curation of exhibitions, developing educational programs, and planning museum events. They will also have the opportunity to deepen their expertise in research and collections management.
